About Me

My name is Joanna Taczała - Warga. I was born on July 3, 1993 in Pleszew (Greater Poland, Poland). I've always had manual skills and artistic sense. Already as a little girl, I participated in art competitions.
I was interested in various fields of art. Throughout my career and education, I have used various types of visualization techniques and presentation methods. From 3D printing, multimedia presentations, films, prototyping, photo sessions, marketing campaigns, posters to vector and pixel graphics. However, my interests were not limited only to art.
I am technically savvy and love tinkering. When I was in middle school, I fell in love with the CSI series. This is how criminology joined to my interests. And because I always liked chemistry, I started my education at the 1st Stanisław Staszic General High School in Pleszew and chose a biological-chemical profile.

The next step was the choice of studies. I spent the years 2012 - 2015 at the Medical University of Lodz. I have a bachelor's degree in the field of Dental Techniques, at the Faculty of Medicine with the Dental Department. The topic of my thesis was "Technology of making the upper and lower skeletal prosthesis using the Renfert method". After my bachelor's degree, I was asked to join the team of dental technicians at SPZOZ CKD of the Institute of Dentistry of the Medical University of Lodz. Thanks to this, I was able to train my skills under the supervision of professionals.
I continued the field of Dental Techniques at intercollegiate master's studies in the years 2015 - 2017. This field of study was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine with the Dentistry Department of the Medical University of Lodz and at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Chemistry of the Lodz University of Technology. As the subject of my master's thesis, I chose "Dimensional analysis and details reproduction of teeth models printouts considering parameter changes of 3D printer working in the fused deposition modeling technology".

In 2016-2017 I also participated in postgraduate studies in the field of Computer Graphics and Multimedia Techniques at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronics, Computer, and Control Engineering of the Lodz University of Technology. As part of my diploma thesis, I created a fully functioning mobile application and wrote the thesis "Mobile applications made in Adobe Animate" in cooperation with the Institute of Applied Computer Science of the Lodz University of Technology.
Thanks to graphic design studies, I learned programming in HTML and CSS as well as Action Script. I also created 3D models ready for printing in Blender. I also developed my graphic skills thanks to Adobe and Corel Draw. I can create print-ready designs, storyboards, visualizations, edit photos, create icons, logos, images, and animations.
Volunteering during the Light Move Festival, the Festival of 4 Cultures, and in the Se-Ma-For Museum of Animation allowed me to get acquainted with the art and culture of Łódź, which I fell in love with all my heart.

The year 2017 was very intense for me because not only I defend my thesis in the two mentioned earlier fields of study, which were only a few days apart, but I also started my PhD studies in the field of Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Lodz University of Technology. During my scientific work, I had the pleasure of working with outstanding scientists and international research teams. I also took care of foreign exchange students (including Japan, Spain, China, Brazil) and supervised the process of creating master's theses. I presented the results of my research at many conferences and fairs. And because of my graphic skills - I created posters for other scientists too. I was also employed at the Lodz University of Technology in 4 research projects. Thanks to this, I had the opportunity to work with companies such as Seco/Warwick, Hart-Tech or Bionanopark.
-
R&D Specialist in the project “Ferritic low-pressure nitrocarburizing in universal vacuum furnaces”
-
Research Assistant in the project “Design and manufacture of personalized medical implants”
-
Technologist - Heat treatment designer - Researcher in the project “A device for high-performance and precise heat treatment with a hardening deformation reduction system for direct application in the production chain of mechanical transmission elements and bearings”
-
Researcher in the project "Granulation and surface modification of dusts after pearlite expansion processes and abrasive blasting"
In all projects I was involved in conducting scientific experiments, writing articles, carrying out and planning numerical simulations (FEM), prototyping with the use of 3D printing, graphic visualization, posters and presentation design, data analysis, 3D modeling, etc. Due to the variety of project topics, I have no problem finding myself in many areas.
I approach my tasks very professionally, thanks to which I was able to obtain scientific grants and awards at the fair. I am also a co-author of patent applications (including one patent license).
In 2022, I defended my PhD with the thesis "The influence of cellulose on the properties of methacrylic polymers for dental applications".
My articles and thesis can be found on the Researchgate platform. And you can watch the interview with me here:

I actively participate in many initiatives that go beyond the scope of my duties. I try to change the world, lead people around me, and help where my knowledge and skills can be useful. Therefore, during the 5 years of study, I was the mayor of the year. I also took part in modifying the Dental Techniques field of study. I also took part in the initiative of Budżet Obywatelski for the city of Łódź, where I submitted my own project and took care of its procceding. I actively participated in many volunteering projects, including the Szlachetna Paczka project (also as a leader). I was a member of the PhD Students Council of the Lodz University of Technology. Here I dealt with the organization of sports events, promotional activities (as a leader of the team) and granting subsidies for trips and courses.
Since I am also interested in marketing, I joined the Promotion Team of the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering. During this time, I planning marketing activities on the Internet and traditional media, planning ads for Google and social media, creating graphic materials, designing gadgets, organizing events and deal with Facebook and Instagram management.

In my career as a graphic designer, I also carried out private orders for visualizations (e.g. for the Medical University of Warsaw), website designs (for Invent Estate), posters and leaflets (for CECH Rzemiosł Różnych in Pleszew), or photo sessions (for MESco and C CUBE).

Privately, I train circus acrobatics using hoop and silks, which is why I created my first project in the field of UX/UI design and research in this topic. I am currently combining my research knowledge, graphic skills and programming knowledge to design websites and mobile applications.
